Interior Home Remodeling Projects to Increase Your Property’s Value
Dated: February 17 2021
If you want to increase the property value of your home, there are plenty of ways to do it. Especially if you’re looking for interior projects to boost a home’s value, there have never been more options to choose from. Picking the right project or multiple projects can net you a serious boost in value, so in case you’re interested, here are a few remodeling opportunities that will net you a sizable increase in property value.
1. New Hardwood Flooring
Fresh hardwood floors are a welcome sight for almost any potential buyer, but you don’t need to break the bank to get authentic, 100% hardwood floors. Floors made exclusively from premium hardwood pose maintenance concerns are susceptible to water damage, non-sustainable, and costly as well.
Unless you’re dead set on them, you can get a nearly equal return on your investment by installing engineered hardwood instead. Engineered hardwood features a layer of real hardwood over the top of a base typically made from plywood or some other cheaper type of material.
This gives your floors the look and feel of real hardwood for a much lower price. Engineered hardwood floors are just as durable, easier to maintain, and often less susceptible to rot, mold, and warping.
2. An Accent Wall
An accent wall is a great way to break up the monotony of a single-color wallpaper or paint scheme in your home. By incorporating a unique and standalone shiplap wall, or another type of unique design, you can bring aesthetic depth and variation to your home’s interior while simultaneously raising your property value as well.
A world map wall, dark wall in a light room, geometric pattern wall, or stone accent wall are just a few of the many types to choose from.
3. Smart Lighting
Smart lighting is another way to add sophistication and luxury to your home’s interior and is relatively easy to implement. Motion-sensing lights and/or an automatic lighting system with programmable preferences is an excellent way to impress guests and save money on your electric bill.
These lights will shut off after not sensing any movement for a while and can be pre-set with your favorite lighting preferences, a definite eye-popper for potential buyers.
4. New Countertops
These are a go-to for many homeowners, and the right choice can perfectly complement your kitchen and/or bathrooms. Quartz is an ever-popular choice, but marble, obsidian, and stainless steel are trending in 2021 as well.
For a lower-budget option, consider installing solid surface countertops. They’re easy to clean and available in an almost endless array of colors and patterns. They can also complement the aesthetic of other nearby features like a handrail, lightswitch plates, or fixtures.
It Doesn’t Take Much to Increase Your Property Value with Interior Projects
The number of innovative and beautiful interior projects to choose from nowadays is staggering. While we certainly haven’t covered all of your options here, we think these four projects are a great place to start and can help grow your property value as well. Whether you try just one or complete multiple projects, you should be happy with the end result.
